2017 Photos of The Year

Each year, as the year nears an end, news organizations and others, post their selections for \u201cphotos of the year\u201d from the year about to end.<\/p>\n

Educators could engage\u00a0students by having them\u00a0select one (or more) of the \u00a0images and conduct research into the background of the image.<\/p>\n

Visual & media literacy questions your students could consider:<\/strong>
\nWhat makes a particular image \u201cthe best\u201d?
\nWhy did this organization choose this image?
\nWhat criteria did they use to determine \u201cthe best\u201d?
\nAre there other images, from the year that\u2019s just ended, that did not make the cut, and why?<\/p>\n

Students could compare-and-contrast selections from US-based companies versus those groups that are not US-based.<\/p>\n

Educators can use\u00a0these images to teach both \u201cvisual literacy\u201d<\/strong> as well as \u201chow to close read an image.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
