Politicians now employ experts in social media, marketing, advertising and TV to convey their messages to voters, sometimes spending millions of dollars in the process.<\/p>\n<p>It is critically important that students, our future voters and leaders, learn to understand the role and influence of media in the political process. (Do your students understand, for example, what constitutes <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dark_money\">Dark Money<\/a>, what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/pacs\/superpacs.php\">Super PACS<\/a> are, or\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Campaign_finance_reform_in_the_United_States\">Campaign Finance Reform <\/a>efforts?)<\/p>\n<p>To that end, many <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frankwbaker.com\/state_lit.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">state standards<\/a> for Social Studies and Citizenship include the need for students to understand how media\u00a0influences politics and decision making.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">This website is devoted primarily to the 30-second campaign &#8220;spot&#8221;\u00a0so\u00a0common in American elections. The site is designed to provide\u00a0teachers with the tools they need to introduce political campaign\u00a0advertising to their students.
