Instead, the speed of Web searching means little time is spent<br \/>\nevaluating information for relevance, accuracy, or authority.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"role_document1\">Young people also have difficulty in<br \/>\ndeveloping an effective search strategy. As a result, they have a strong preference for using natural<br \/>\nlanguage in searching, rather than analyzing which keywords might be more effective.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"role_document2\">When searching<br \/>\nbrings back a long list of results, young people have difficulty assessing the relevance of the materials,<br \/>\nand often print out pages with no more than a glance at them. &#8220;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"role_document\">\u201cWhile media literacy and information literacy have developed as separate traditions, they share many of the same values.<br \/>\nIn general, the \u201cmedia literacy\u201d tradition stresses the understanding, comprehension, critique and creation of media materials,<br \/>\nwhereas the \u201cinformation literacy\u201d tradition stresses the identification, location, evaluation and use of media materials. Metaphorically,<br \/>\nwe might say that \u201cmedia literacy\u201d sees media as a lens through which to view the world and express oneself, while \u201cinformation literacy\u201d<br \/>\nsees information as a tool with which to act on the world.
