Notes: I put up a bulletin board related to holiday consumerism this week (December 2006). I used all the sale papers as
my background, cut out the word "BUY" in 12" letters and put them up in a set of three, then put up a
picture of a man with his empty pockets inside out with "bye bye" on it. I also included several
newspaper articles from this year and last year about how much consumers spend this time of year as well as
a Newsweek article the $603.00 amount appears in. Then I attached an envelope of index cards and an
empty envelope for students to answer a "What do you think?" question on the board asking if they feel the
newspaper articles are accurate for their families.
