What to look for in a TV ad:

  1. Visuals – How many different shots are in the ad? Is the product ever seen? Where is the product seen in the shot?
  2. Words – How many words are in the ad? What is the company trying to tell you in the ad?
  3. Music & Sound Effects – What kind of music is it? What is the mood of the music? Are there any sound effects?
  4. Editing – How many edits (or times the picture changes on the screen) in the ad? Why would the company edit the piece this way?
  5. Station – Who watches this show and this station? What is the age, gender, race of the people on the show? Who is the company trying to reach with this ad?
