Two pictures where students are working with newspapers:  The students
were learning about the concept of media having a unique language and
its own set of rules.  Students found articles and read them to the rest
of the group.  Other students then gave their suggested headlines.  Then
the actual headline was read demonstrating the concept of unique
language.

Bulletin Board:  These students worked on and prepared a great bulletin
board conveying the concept that media exists to convey values and
points of view.  The students found articles about politicians in the
newspaper and decided if they were for democrats or republicans.  Also,
they looked for positive and negative articles.  The articles are
displayed under the elephant or donkey.  We had a complaint about this
bulletin board!  A politician was visiting our school and said it was
too much of an advertisement for the other side!  We had used every
article about politics in one issue of the Sunday paper!  What a
statement about media bias!
